As a companion to the previous post, Masking Kanu, I also have videos I took during the process. I wasn’t able to upload the pictures since I didn’t have time to convert the video files to flash format so better Nate than Lever…. Videos after the jump.
The masking begins with the tamiya masking tape:

Then comes the blue sticky tack masking:

Even with all the redundancy, I still miss a small spot; however, the small spot was fixed by sanding the extra spot with 3600 grit sanding mesh. A little touch up paint and the problem is gone, it would have been much nicer to avoid the problem altogether, but I’m clumsy.
And as you can see from the first pictures in this post, the little paint mistake was easily fixed.
Next up is the detail for the blade. Since the blade was clear coated with a gloss and that gloss has now cured for a good week, I can apply an enamel wash.
Yay, another video:

Clean up is even easier:

Completely off-topic, but what WordPress Plugin do you use for you pictures?
lightbox :D
yeah, but it’s just that the media gallery (images uploader) in wordpress is a bit screwed. dunno what’s wrong but it’s not uploading things properly… it works, but with a big pain in the ass…
why do you use those brackets? “[]” with the number in between? what’s that do? I thought adding rel=”lightbox” was enough?
The brackets allows you to group sets of pictures, so that when the picture comes up, you get back and next buttons to scroll to other pictures while still in the lighbox effect.
