Motivation

And the lack there of. In the past two weeks, I’ve been having some motivational problems. Even though I believe I know what the cause is, I still cannot seem to push myself enough. Kanu’s been in limbo for quite some time now. I was able to get most of the Nu’s done, and still got a small amount of work on Kanu after finishing the Nus, but productivity and motivation is at an all time low. At the last gathering on the 14th, I managed to get most of the torso of AkoCreation’s GM Sniper Custom Conversion snapped. More pictures and story after the jump.

It’s easier to be an asshole to words than people

I saw a post up on xkcd today, the actual post is after the jump. I think back to all the interactions I’ve had since being introduced to the wonderful world of the internet way back in 1994. There was a text based online game called a MUD that a friend of mine introduced me to, it was an online game, and the screen was nothing but words describing rooms, objects in the room, and the people in the room. It was an interesting social environment. There was the good, the bad, and the horrific. The handle I use and the name of this site was created on that game. I remember starting out and being completely new to the whole phenomenon known as the internet, I used the social skills that I had learned for the past 18 years of life as a guide for how one should behave in this new environment. But it did not take me long to come to the rationalization that the mud, is simply just a game, that all the actions done are mere words. I was an asshole before in reality, but damn, it became REAL easy to be an asshole when all you see are words – the nameless, faceless masses that exist behind other monitors connected by a series of wires simply didn’t exist in reality for me; all I saw were a user name and words.

A life less ordinary….

Or, it could be completely normal; but in comparison to good old TV, and what we are all taught to be “normal”; I’m pretty sure that I’m way out there in left field facing the fence. This weekend was an interesting one; and the events leading up to it began last Thursday evening.

In other news, Saturday was a nice break from things, with IPMS Ontario’s MiniCon event and a rather smaller than normal build gathering; a good time was had. Here are a few pictures from MiniCon.

The Workshop

I believe that a big part to working on kits is a well set up work area. When I first started building kits, I had a temporary work area; my tools were semi organized and simply thrown into boxes, random cups and strewn all over my temporary fold up desk area. The same area was used for painting when I got to that point with my kits. I had a temporary set up for about 6 years prior to moving to my current residence. With my new place, I was able to dedicate a single room as a workshop. More pictures and information after the jump.
