Weekend update, slight update for IJ Commission..

So I have every other Friday off. I just have to work an extra hour per day, but its a nice deal, for a small sacrifice. A couple of friends came over and we headed out to the local bar and grill: Hero’s. There are about 150 or so beers on tap there, and below I have a picture of the tap list. A couple of us have acquiesced to hitting all the beers on the list as a “scientific” experiment to see which ones taste the best… I had a large Cherry Wheat, which is pretty interesting. It was like a blending of grenadine and wheat… pretty good… not a bad start. Side note for future reference, an order of the nachos can feed a full table….

In other news, I did manage to get a small amount of work on the IJ. The painted armo
r pieces were pulled and placed into boxes for storage while I work on the other parts. And I got some of the metallics painted.

MG ∞ Justice Commission part 3

Last night I got through the marbling with the sponge. Here are some pictures of the finished parts with a heavy gloss coat applied to the surface. I also took a couple of quick videos of the process to add on the advanced paint techniques tutorial page at a later date.

With everything sanded and ready for paint, the major subsections are broken down and then thrown into a bath of the purple power soup for about 20-30 minutes. I admit that this is overkill in terms of preparing the kit for paint; however, there is a reason for my insanity. In the past, I have run into problems of small dirt particles, oils from my fingers, and other random anti paint sticking surface problems. So to save myself from the potential rework of paint lifting off the surface, I just soak the parts in some industrial strength cleaner for a short period and go through a fairly quick and painless cleaning process.

MG ∞ Justice Commission part 1

I started clipping, sanding, and snapping the sucker a few weeks ago while I waited for paint to dry on the Tekkaman kit. I finished up the clipping, snapping and sanding this past weekend. Holy hell the thing is partsy. The last MG I built was the Zaku 2.0 and I thought that was partsy too. I feel I’m starting to get spoiled by HGUC 1/144 scale kits and resin kits as they’re not as parts intensive. Angel has been building his ∞ Justice in tandem, and finished before I did, but allowed me to snap some pictures with his kit.
