Weekend Update: Build Gathering, Kanu Update, and K&N CAI… oh my!

Busy weekend. Friday night, I assembled the sub parts for the Tekkaman Evil commission kit and took pictures of the completed kit. I experimented with my photography, using a diffuser for my flash; so some of the pictures may look a little different form my past photos. Before the build gathering, I went down to my local AutoZone where I had ordered a K&N Cold Air/Short Ram intake kit, and then installed it to my tC. Folks started showing up to the build gathering as I finished up the install. The build gathering was fairly successful, we ended up going out to El Farolito for dinner. We had about 16 people at the gathering. My free time during the gathering went to working on the Kanu kit and with the masking work completed, I should be able to finish the kit this week. Sean F brought a couple of cds with pictures from OrangeCon 2008, and I have those pictures uploaded to the website. Labor Day Weekend Update

Weekend update. A good amount of work was accomplished on Kanu over the weekend, some rework to resculpt a broken/missing piece, and a build gathering capped out the events of the long Labor Day weekend. Because of the amount of hard alcohol consumed, I spent the day recovering. I’m still not 100%, but at least I’m no longer orally evacuating last night’s liquid consumption.

Model Build Gathering: August 16 2008

Terry arrived early so we can fix his airbrush. I took the airbrush apart and threw the front parts into a cup of lacquer thinner and ran the stuff through my ultrasonic cleaner. The nozzle was damaged so we went out to Coast Airbrush to pick up parts. Folks started arriving around 1:30 and everyone sat down and started building. I sat down and started working on my Kanu. We had a few new guys come out. Here are a few quick shots of folks building stuff.

July’s Model Build Gathering

It’s 4:45 PM and I’m still trying to recover from yesterday’s build gathering. Early in the morning, I hit up a showing of Dark Knight with Will and Chris, and rushed back with them in tow to the house to find that Travis and company were already here. People showed up fairly promptly this gathering, and I think we hit 18 people before 3PM. The house cleared once Otakufuel showed up, and everyone was outside buying kits. Here are a few pictures of the three sections of build areas we ended up with:

We have a good number of new people this time; I believe we have about 7 or 8 new folks. Hugo watches them intently…
