Mini evil update. Last night, I ended up sacrificing my gym time with masking the shiny detail areas then spraying some more paint. The following picture shows the lower abdomen with the color changing properties with pictures of the part from different angles.
Next up, is the details on the chest. I’m actually very pleased with how these came out. At different angles, the color shifts ever so slightly and it gives the feeling that there is a light there. I’ll have to remember the technique. Again, using alclad’s prismatic colors, spraying on a clear gloss, then on top of that, spraying a mixture of pearl powders and the clear gloss over to give an additional transparent layer that creates the trick. Also pictured are the details on the back of the chest piece. I still need to mask off this piece and paint the neck areas the same alclad white aluminum.
And the last thing I did was to spray on a semi gloss over all the exterior armor pieces with exceptions to the parts painted in the metallic. In the first picture below, you can see the difference between the semi gloss pieces and the still gloss mica red head fin. The head fin has not been semi glossed as I needed to mask it off and paint on the alclad jade prismatic colors as a detail piece. Most of the detail areas such as this small section of the head fin as well as the chest lights are stickers that came with the kit; I think painting in these details gives a better final result.
Looking good. You really want to get this done and out of your hair don’t you. Two updates in two days… lol
Heh, considering I was supposed to have this thing done in September… yeah… I want this off my plate :D
thanks again
