MG ∞ Justice Commission part 2

With everything sanded and ready for paint, the major subsections are broken down and then thrown into a bath of the purple power soup for about 20-30 minutes. I admit that this is overkill in terms of preparing the kit for paint; however, there is a reason for my insanity. In the past, I have run into problems of small dirt particles, oils from my fingers, and other random anti paint sticking surface problems. So to save myself from the potential rework of paint lifting off the surface, I just soak the parts in some industrial strength cleaner for a short period and go through a fairly quick and painless cleaning process.

MG ∞ Justice Commission part 1

I started clipping, sanding, and snapping the sucker a few weeks ago while I waited for paint to dry on the Tekkaman kit. I finished up the clipping, snapping and sanding this past weekend. Holy hell the thing is partsy. The last MG I built was the Zaku 2.0 and I thought that was partsy too. I feel I’m starting to get spoiled by HGUC 1/144 scale kits and resin kits as they’re not as parts intensive. Angel has been building his ∞ Justice in tandem, and finished before I did, but allowed me to snap some pictures with his kit.

Weekend Update: Build Gathering, Kanu Update, and K&N CAI… oh my!

Busy weekend. Friday night, I assembled the sub parts for the Tekkaman Evil commission kit and took pictures of the completed kit. I experimented with my photography, using a diffuser for my flash; so some of the pictures may look a little different form my past photos. Before the build gathering, I went down to my local AutoZone where I had ordered a K&N Cold Air/Short Ram intake kit, and then installed it to my tC. Folks started showing up to the build gathering as I finished up the install. The build gathering was fairly successful, we ended up going out to El Farolito for dinner. We had about 16 people at the gathering. My free time during the gathering went to working on the Kanu kit and with the masking work completed, I should be able to finish the kit this week. Sean F brought a couple of cds with pictures from OrangeCon 2008, and I have those pictures uploaded to the website. Here are a few sample pictures from the weekend, more pictures and details about the weekend after the jump.

Motivation

And the lack there of. In the past two weeks, I’ve been having some motivational problems. Even though I believe I know what the cause is, I still cannot seem to push myself enough. Kanu’s been in limbo for quite some time now. I was able to get most of the Nu’s done, and still got a small amount of work on Kanu after finishing the Nus, but productivity and motivation is at an all time low. At the last gathering on the 14th, I managed to get most of the torso of AkoCreation’s GM Sniper Custom Conversion snapped. More pictures and story after the jump.
