MG Exia Group Build for Anime Expo 2009 Display

Towards the end of June, I got an email from a distributor that will be exhibiting at Anime Expo; as well as Otakon and the San Diego Comic Con. He was asking if I could build a couple of kits to be displayed at Anime Expo. The email came on a Monday, the 22nd of June, and Anime Expo starts on July 2nd; additionally, I’m one of the managers for the Exhibit Hall this year so I need to be there on June 30th to start dealing with all the vendors and my job for AX. Not too bad, if I can get the kits started Monday evening and get some fellow model builders to help out, we can probably do this… Well, a few more issues, the guy was currently in Japan and returning Tuesday, and he won’t have the kits until Friday of that week. The kits in question are the 00 Riser and MG Exia; which has yet to be released.

6 days after starting on the kit we finally crawled to the finish with the thing, well, as finished as we’re going to get anyhow.

OO Riser Group Build Progress

This is the 1/100 OO Riser that a few members of the model build gathering an I are challenging ourselves to build and see how fast we can clip, sand, seam, paint (shading), decal, and wash the sucker. So far we’ve gotten about three hours of work in for the past two nights.

PG Astray Part 2 and Kriska Barchenowa kit

We had a local gathering for the folks building the PG Astray this past Friday. We had four air brush stations running at the same time. The station in the workshop, one in the dining room, and two in the front living room. Ten of the eleven builder showed, so we got a good amount of work done. The colors were voted on and it was basically a battle between the clear orange and the clear red with the clear red winning out. In other news, I pinned a Kriska Barchenowa from Muv Luv kit using brass rods and magnets.
