HGUC Sazabi Progress

So, early last week, I started working on this kit the day after I posted about the Bearguy ver Panda. Granted, I should just focus on the Hi Nu, but a few things got me inspired to do the Sazabi. I’m starting to get a higher appreciation for 1/144 scaled kits, granted the Saz is a fairly large 1/144 scale kit, but for all intents and purposes, it is still a 1/144 kit. The parts count is easier to handle and the potential for little modifications are pretty good – speaking specifically about the Saz in comparison to the MG sized version. I’ve been wanting to crack out the drill, files, knives, plastic tubes, strips, metal collars and a whole list of modification parts to tinker with a kit. For those that have been following the forum post about this, go ahead and skip this post. This is just a blog post discussing the build so far, as it has been a little over a week’s worth of work.

January Model Build Gathering

This past Saturday was the monthly model build gathering. I believe we were about 25 strong. I actually got quite a bit of work done on my Saz project that I started early last week. People brought food and the grill was fired up. There was a little bit of drinking and a little bit of rockband towards the end of the night, but there was a great deal of building going on as well.

GPB-04B Bearguy Panda Completed

After seeing so many versions of this kit late last month, I wanted to do my own. The panda thing has been done several times over, but still, I wanted do do my own. Taking a break from the HiNu, this little kit was a very quick and dirty build, just to get the bear out of my system. There is a ton of modification potential with this kit but I only did a few mods:

  • added blue LEDs as the eyes
  • dentistry to cut out the mouth and make some bigger teeth
  • filled in the space down the middle of the head
  • Small details to the right hand adding some metal collars to create a more distinct weapon barrel

Bearguy: painting progresses

A little update from the work done over the past few days. With the parts all sanded and ready for paint, I sprayed on some primer over everything to check for sanding mistakes and check the putty mistakes. After fixing those mistakes, a fresh coat of primer and on to painting.

The small amount of carbon black I have painted on the head should be clues enough as to the paint scheme I’ll be going with for this kit. I know that there are a ton of Pandabearguys already done by various modelers, but hell, this is my take of that idea.
