Discussions with Brian resulted in an idea to broadcast or link the model build gatherings via webcams. I’d like to have something similar to video conferencing. So I’m sure the video camera dhcloud lent me would suffice, I think I would just need to play around with some video conferencing software. But the general idea is to help spread the knowledge. I know most of the folks at the build gatherings have learned an insurmountable amount of model building techniques simply by building together. Imagine the possibilities if we can get this to work properly.
The major concern is software, and finding something that will work with a wide variety of platforms, and something free would be that much better. I’m absolutely clueless about these things, which is why it’s taken so long to come to this realization that this is actually possible. Now, I remember that most instant message clients have video conferencing capabilities, but most of those are one on one. I’ll be doing a little research on this, but in the mean time, I’d like to know if this would be a venture that folks outside So Calif. hold an interest. I hope to have all this figured out, or at least close to figured out by the time Saturday rolls around (next build gathering); and if this works, a whole new world of gunpla/resin figure building will begin.

Damn! thats sound like a great idea, i have some knowledge on this subject let me look into some options here and let me see what I can come up with.
Do you want me to bring all the software that came with the camera this weekend? I know Skype handles web cams… and you can even have everyone dial into a “chat room” so to speak… I will play around with it a bit too.
Wee, that’s why I keep you guys around! Yeah, I’ve been looking into Skype and that sounds like the best option. And if we can make this happen, this will only work to increase the visibility of Gunpla and Anime Resin figure building…. I have a post about this on the forums too, so we can also discuss this over there too.
But if this works, our build gathering’s would increase by several folds.
