PG Astray Group Build Project part 1

Last month, on the forums, we discussed the possibility of working on a group project at the build gathering. We’ve been holding the build gatherings for a little over a year now and each month we’ve been working on projects of our own. Last year we kinda did a group thing and worked on the 1/144 Gundam Bar. The bar itself was a group effort but the individual kits were still projects contributed by each builder. This idea behind this was to get a fairly complicated kit, that was fairly expensive, split the costs of purchasing the kit, and having each person that donated to the cause work on the project. So at the end of the polling, we decided on the PG Astray that had just come out in March.

Pictures from the past few weekends…

Here are a collections of pictures taken over the past couple of weekends. I went diving with a co-worker on the 4th. On the 11th, Angel, Nicky, Terry, and I went to a Clippers’ game courtesy of a co-worker of Terry’s who had the tickets and wasn’t planning on using them. This past weekend, the east coast crew came out for a visit; they flew in Thursday night and flew out on Monday morning.

Current SoCal Wave Heights

Some helpful information for scuba diving in southern California. This stuff is important for dive planning. To optimize the best times for diving, I visit various sites to calculate the best date and time to hit the water. The first place I visit is a local Laguna Beach dive shop’s website that sends a diver out to check conditions and then posts the daily conditions on their site: Laguna Sea Sports’ Dive Condition Page

Stick Food

For lunch today, a friend and I went out to have what we have affectionately termed “stick food“. We used to hit up a place that was closer to work, but early last year, they cut out their lunch hours and are currently only open for dinner. Today we decided to try one a little further away, but still fairly close to work. The restaurant we decided to try is part of the 新選組 (Shin-Sen-Gumi) group of restaurants – yes, the term refers to samurai era police enforcement; but this is the name the restaurant group uses. I have been to their Shabu-Shabu as well as their Hakata Ramen restaurants; good eats. Today we hit up their Yakitori restaurant.
