January 2010 Model Build Gathering

Weekend update: January’s build gathering. This month we had about 7 new people come to the gathering. The size of the gathering is getting back to normal after all the holidays and such. This looks like a good start to the new year. I got some work on my RSO that has been sitting idle on my desk for the past few weeks, and I cracked open the Gun Tank and got the core fighter done for the thing. Having built the core fighters for previous kits, this is by far the most complex core fighter to date. The parts separation is pretty intense. I’m still not too sure the over engineering is necessary, but the thing is pretty cool regardless. More details about the gathering after the jump.

September’s Model Build Gathering

Model build gathering and a gunpla fort. This past weekend was the monthly model build gathering. And for those lucky to show up early enough, they got first pick through a literal wall of gunpla – roughly 200 or so kits. They were all mostly built – snapped and some painted, but hell, free kits are free kits, anything can be taken apart and rebuilt.

Weekend update: August Model Build Gathering & Velvet Progress

This weekend was the August Model Build Gathering. We had a fairly small July gathering, so I wasn’t sure what to expect for this months. Folks trickled in, some of the new folks from last time came back, and one of the builders that came to the one of the earliest build gatherings made his triumphant return. I got a good amount of masking work for Velvet done, got utterly trashed, and played rock band. Damn good weekend.

June’s Model Build Gathering

June’s model build gathering was smaller than the previous month. A few folks are working more so that they can take the first week of July off for Anime Expo. So this was a nice relaxing build gathering. We had one new member to the group and hopefully he’ll come back and start building seriously like the rest of the group. Scott’s starting to move away from 1/400 and smaller scaled kits to a 1/144.
