TUTORIAL: Fixing air bubbles in resin

This is how I deal with air bubbles found in resin kits. Sometimes these bubbles are just under the surface and while sanding to clean up mold lines or various surface defects, they are uncovered. Other times they are quite obvious and are easily spotted. And more often than not, they are not easily seen and are very small, and up until you spray that first layer of primer, do they suddenly show up all over the place. So this little tutorial will demonstrate a few methods I use to deal with this pesky little issue.

Velvet Masking and Reverse Wash Tutorial

A small little update before the weekend starts. The previous night, I masked the last two parts for Velvet and painted them. Also, last night, I sprayed a layer of black enamel over the entire base. The reasoning for that should become fairly clear in the picture below. Today after allowing the enamels to cure for a day, I snapped some pictures and took a video for this technique. The Tenderloin Experiment part 1 and 2

Tenderloin part 1: Filet Mignon. So after watching an episode of Alton Brown’s Good Eats; I decided that I needed to try getting a bulk cut of tenderloin, cut up, and use the different meat cuts for various uses. And what better guinea pigs to test this out on than a few of my friends. Yesterday, I cut some fillet Mignon steaks and did a steak au poivre dish. Today, I took a different cut of the meat and made Philly Cheesesteaks.

Pressure paint pot conversion

So after many question, and my own promises of taking pictures and posting up a tutorial on what I did. Here are the steps done to convert a paint pressure pot to a resin casting pressure pot. The first picture is the complete setup; there are a few things that need to be attached to the out of the box pressure pot. Several fittings need to be added to plug up the various ends of the pot and an optional modification will help make the pot easier to use for casting larger items.
