Weekend Update: Masking Fun – Asuka Bust Progress

A little bit of a weekend update. This like pretty much every other weekend was fairly busy; time this it was the birthday bashes for Nicky and Yuki. Nicky’s birthday was earlier in the week and Yuki’s was this past weekend. So they decided to combine both birthdays and have a little gathering down in La Jolla Shores. Interspersed within all the birthday activities I have a little bit of time to mask and paint the Asuka bust kit.

Trip to Otakon 2011 and wandering around DC

A few months ago, I found some decent flight prices to Baltimore, so I grab Angel, who has never been on an airplane before, and get airline tickets to go hang out with Brian, attend Otakon, and check out Washington DC. We took the 10:40 red eye out of LAX and landed in Baltimore at about 6:40. I slept for about 5 hours of the flight, waking up here and there. And with that, the start of our extremely packed three day weekend of fun begins; cosplayers, gunpla models, and national monuments with a little mix of some sugar glider fun while watching anime and drinking dessert beers.

Weekend Update: dinner at Opaque, Comic Con, and a Gouf

This weekend was a damn busy one. It starts off Thursday night with a dinner at Opaque, moves to Saturday with a full day at the San Diego Comic Con, then Sunday with finishing up the HGUC Gouf’s weathering and final assembly of the completed component for the 0084 Diorama piece. The weekend was fun and damn interesting, I’m going to need the work week to recover before I head out to Otakon in Baltimore on Thursday night to start everything over again.

Weekend Update: build gathering, Gouf work, and SCGMC news!

This past weekend was a busy one. I’ve been focusing on getting the HGUC Gouf Custom done, so there is a little bit of an update on that front. Saturday was the July build gathering. Normally, the gathering is either smaller because folks are tired from AX and it’s summer so folks are just busy with various summer activities. Or there is an explosion of new folks because of the workshops and panels at AX. But neither was true this time, it was just the normal gathering, about twenty or so came. It was fairly productive too, in comparison with the last build gathering.

On the SCGMC front; we have vendors and trophies. But more about that after the jump.
