Work begins on Cosette and a commission repair job

At the build gathering, I pinned three kits that I received. One of which is a Cosette bust kit sculpted by modeling circle Modeller T. The sculpt is inspired by Émile Bayard’s illustration for Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables which depicts a young Cosette sweeping. The kit was sold at the recent WonderFest Winter 2010. Being a rather big fan of Les Miserables, both the book and the musical, I picked up the book after watching the musical and enjoyed both very much; so when I saw this sculpt, I had to grab it. Inspiration to work on kits come at odd times, as for the past few months, the push to build anything was all but non existent.

The second thing I started working on is a commission repair job for a Mizuki Tachibana from Gravion figure. The hair has a chunk broken off one of the two hair pieces and there is a prominent paint chip on the other hair piece. This should be a quick fix, the only issue is color matching for the hair.

Feburary 2010 Model Build Gathering

This past weekend was the monthly model build gathering. The folks showed up fairly promptly but we sat around watching the Winter Olympics for a little bit before actually sitting down and working on our respective kits. What can I say, it was the women’s ski jump aerials, and watching a few women eat it hard is always a good time. Watching some pretty impressive aerials was damn impressive too, even though a few of the women just looked like men. *shiver* Sean headed back to the table first then we all just kind of left the tv once they switched over to men’s ski long jump – not having Eddie “the Eagle” Edwards, didn’t keep us interested enough to hang around the tv.

Lucky for me, the kits I picked up from this past Wonderfest came in on Saturday, two bust ktis and a 1/8th kit came in so I spent the time at the build gathering pinning and doing some initial sanding.

Ski Trip 2010

This past weekend was not only Valentine’s day weekend and Chinese New Year’s; but for a few of us, this was the 10th annual ski trip. And because mother nature decided to bring her fat foot into the works, we’re now down to only two of us that has made every trip to date. Who knows, maybe next year I’ll be the one that misses it. Regardless, it was a good trip. We had a good number of new additions to the trip’s roster, and we made our first return to a house we’ve previously stayed. The weather stayed clear and sunny, which meant no new snow, but made for great driving conditions and nice ski days.

Lasagna Part Deux and Chicken & Waffle Night

Yet another weekend filled with food and entertainment. Things start off on Friday evening for finishing up my first attempt at making Lasagna. Saturday was chicken and waffle night at the house; and I spend most of Sunday recovering. Jen’s portable fire pit is a frigging awesome replacement for the go board that we normally congregate around while outside.
