This is a repaint of my MG Hyaku-Shiki. The first
picture is of the Shiki before anything was done.
The first step in repainting this model is to remove
the paint. There are several methods for removing paint, and I chose the
409 method. Basically, soak the parts that need paint removal in 409(cleaning
fluid) for approximately 24 hours, then wash in soap and water and the
majority of the paint should be dissolved. Remaning chrome or gunk is
easily removed with rubbing alcohol. Here are some pictures of the 409
bath and the resulting parts while drying.
The following picture is a side by side comparison of
the leg part before and after priming.
